Portrait Information

I am an on-location natural light photographer. Any flash I use is only for fill or bouncing off ceilings. I will come to your home (or a different location if you choose, i.e. beach, park, etc.) for your session. Outdoor sessions are generally done an hour before sunset. I realize that late afternoons/early evenings can be very challenging for young children. Most of my clients are able to rearrange nap times to accommodate the photography session at that time of day.

Because I prefer natural light, I will often need to wander around and look for the best light. If we are in your home, this may involve moving furniture and opening blinds.

Here are some suggestions on what to wear…

For newborns, less is best. The best shots are those with no clothing. Please bring your favorite blankets and any favorite hats you may have.

For everyone else, I recommend clothing that is comfortable and casual. Please keep in mind, clothing with large prints detract from the overall image.

For groups and families—please wear coordinating colors. Simple clothing is always safe. Choose items for the entire family as if you were creating one outfit. If all of your choices were somehow on one person, would the result look good? A good thing to do for those who are afraid to break away from the monochrome look is to choose one patterned item and then choose the rest of the family’s clothing from colors within that pattern.

Barefoot is typically best if the weather is warm enough.
